November 1923 National Geographic Vol XLIV Number 5. Feature "The Story of the Horse" - this is the very first edition of National Geographic Magazine to feature all color photographs using autochrome plates. (Note - most advertisements were still in black and white.)

National Geographic first introduced full-color images in its magazine in the July 1910 issue. This was a significant moment in the history of the publication, as it became known for its high-quality photography, including its pioneering use of color photography. Prior to that, the magazine primarily used black-and-white photos, but with the introduction of color images, it set itself apart as a leader in visually engaging journalism.

The November 1923 issue of National Geographic is particularly notable for being the first edition of the magazine to feature all color photographs. This issue marked a major milestone for the magazine, demonstrating the publication's commitment to enhancing its visual storytelling with vibrant, high-quality color images. The photos in this issue were from autochrome plates, an early form of color photography.

This shift further solidified National Geographic's reputation for groundbreaking photography and visual content.

The pages and binding are in amazingly good condition. Take a look at the pictures - we frankly couldn't believe how clear and bright the pages are after over one hundred years. That said - while the front and back covers are present and attached both covers show significant wear including a number of marks, faint handwriting in one corner, several small creases, tears, and is fragile at the spine.

Will pack for shipping with great care (as always, but anything 100 years old gets extra special treatment.)

A beautiful, complete copy of the November 1923 edition of National Geographic magazine. This edition includes subtitles like "24 Pages in Full Color", "Paintings in Oil Reproduced in Full Color", "The Story of the Horse" and "Horses of the World"

Condition: Good. This magazine is just shy of 100 years old and while it is complete and readable it does show signs of wear. There is a handwritten name at the top right corner of the cover. The binding is intact with all pages fully attached, with some fragility around the cover at the top and bottom of the binding. All pages are fully intact, no cut-outs. Several pages have small dog-ears within the margin. Some bowing of the full magazine in the lower right-hand corner. Numerous small nicks and creases on the front and back cover, with some overall fading and wear. All text fully readable. Additional photos available upon request. The item pictured here is the actual item for sale - true for all books and vintage items offered by Rhuckus.
