Eco-Friendly Decorative Wooden Bowls to Elevate Your Home in 2024
"TL" Bowls, as they are affectionately known, are a limited series of handcrafted decorative wood bowls. Each "TL" bowl is completely unique, and each is catalogued and numbered. A single craftsman made each one by one by hand, from naturally fallen trees on his own land in the New Hampshire forest.
Nestled in the serene woodlands of New Hampshire, an artisan's passion for woodworking and nature converged to create truly sustainable works of art. This former engineer devoted his last years to transforming naturally fallen deciduous trees—maple, oak, birch, cedar, and elm—into stunning, one-of-a-kind wooden bowls. Each piece tells the story of the forest and the unseen forces of nature that shaped its materials.
The process began with the artisan walking through his own land, surveying the woods for the fallen trees of the harsh New England winters or powerful summer storms. This practice ensured that no living tree was harmed, maintaining the ecological balance and supporting the natural lifecycle of the forest.
Each bowl was meticulously handcrafted, reflecting the unique characteristics of the wood from which it was formed. The grains, knots, and colors of the wood are highlighted, making every bowl unique. Some bowls boast a highly polished finish, gleaming with the depth and richness of the wood, while others are finished more simply with tung oil or beeswax, celebrating the organic beauty of their natural textures.
There are only 472 "TL" bowls currently available for purchase, out of a total of 600 created. No more "TL" bowls will ever be made. Each bowl has a limited series catalog number, and a nickname given by the craftsman or by his wife or children.
Now, as these bowls find their way into homes across the country, they carry with them a legacy of environmental stewardship and exquisite craftsmanship. They are simple, beautiful symbols of a commitment to preserving the natural world while celebrating oldfashioned craftsmanship.
